Weathervane / Minimum Power Heading Mode: Optimizing Vessel Orientation
The Weathervane Mode, also referred to as Minimum Power Heading Mode, is a function of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems. It allows the vessel to align itself naturally with environmental forces such as wind, waves, and current, minimizing the power required to maintain its position. By reducing the sway force and aligning the vessel to face into or along with these forces, the system optimizes energy efficiency while maintaining station-keeping.
