Dynamic Positioning FMEA familiarization course
FMEA familiarization course is intended to improve candidate's understanding of the FMEA report, identifying any single failure that may lead to a total loss of position, loss of generation or thrust.
A Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is required by class for any Dynamically Positioned (DP) (class2/3) vessel. The objective of the DP FMEA familiarization course is to improve your skills to use and understand content of the FMEA report, identify any single failure that may lead to a total loss of position, loss of generation or thrust. Proper understanding of those recommendations will help you to improve the performance or the safety of the vessel. This training will be useful for superintendents, captains and all staff who work with FMEA reports on DP vessels.
The training is based on the programme as outlined by the recommendations contained in The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines.
Training is a mix of theoretical sessions and practical exercises on Kongsberg DP stand alone simulators.
- DP System Audit
- DP Capability Analysis
- Thruster Reliability
- DP Control System
- DP PRS
- Power Management & Distribution
- Thrusters & Propulsion
- Human Factors.
- Analysis considering hidden failures
The objective of an DP FMEA familiarization, as applied to a DP vessel, is to learn how to provide a comprehensive, systematic and documented analysis to establish the important failure modes with regard to station keeping. The analysis must seek to determine any failure modes that can affect the station keeping as a whole and cause a position loss.
Assessment by multiple choice tests. Must be passed with 70% correct answers.
