OPITO Banksman & Slinger Competence Reassessment
Purpose
This Product is for personnel that wish to renew their OPITO Banksman and Slinger Competence or Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment certificate.

Introduction into the assessment process
Theoretical assessment:
Written test – 60 questions / 90 minutes
Practical assessment:
The delegates, in the Banksman’s role, will be required to perform all the lifts specified below - to the criteria specified. Lift Types:
1. A simple pre-slung lift
2. A bundled tubular lift
3. A restricted access lift
4. A lift in which the load has an offset centre of gravity
5. A blind lift
The delegates, in the Slinger’s role, will be required to perform all slung load types 1 to 4 specified below- to the criteria specified. Types of Slung loads:
1. Prepare and sling a simple lift (not pre-slung)
2. Prepare and sling a bundle of 3 or more tubulars
3. Prepare and sling a load with an offset centre of gravity
4. Prepare and sling a load using manmade fibre slings
Lifting Operations:
The lifting operations will be taken from a bank of lifting exercises (complete with risk assessments and lifting plans) - prepared in advance by the Lerus Training Centre.
Admission requirements
Delegates must possess a valid OPITO-approved Banksman and Slinger Competence or Banksman and Slinger Competence Reassessment Certificate.
Note: Delegates who possess an OPITO Banksman and Slinger Assessment or Re-Assessment Certificate which has expired by more than 6 months will be required to attend the OPITO Banksman and Slinger Initial Training prior to undertaking the Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment. In these instances, there will be no requirement to complete a Work Experience Logbook
Medical entry requirements
All delegates attending this training have to undergo medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the Lerus Training Centre.
